About Me

My name is Janna Shepherd, and Shady Creek Farm is my "model horse farm". I've been collecting model horses ever since I was a little girl. Of course, my first models were my favorite play toys, and they have the battle scars to prove it. I started paying more attention to the condition of my models when I was about 11 years old, and started going to model horse shows shortly after. After jumping into the model horse hobby with both feet, I was hooked.

My main interests in the hobby are collecting and live showing (especially Performance). I live and show in NAMHSA Region 5, although I love traveling and sometimes show in surrounding regions. My collection has a variety of types of models: OF Breyers, OF Stones, Customs, Artist Resins, and a few Chinas. I dabble in a bit of prop making, and am working on getting involved in photo showing. When I have more free time, I’d like to try making tack and/or customizing models.

Besides model horses, I enjoy spending time with my husband (Robert) and our real animals, dog training, hiking, photography, video games, reading, and crafts. My real pets include seven dogs (Riley, Wrangler, Lola, Lulu, Kody, Benji, and Brodie), a horse (Bunny – TBxShire), a cat (Stitch), and a bunch of reptiles.
